So we went to Cheesecake Factory for dinner a couple nights ago. Because it was cold and that makes us stupid. The place’s menu says it all: five pages of “specialties” — every entre, by the look of it, is considered a specialty; the menu also has advertisements (for other companies) and pictures of food — heck, even Denny’s doesn’t have ads on their menus. When the food got to us, the plates were searing hot, clear evidence of a half hour spent under a salamander, and the spring rolls were rubber. The manager swung by to “make it right”, putting on this practiced casual act that spoke volumes about how often a night, every night, he has to go through the same apologetic song and dance. The sad thing is, we could have gone to Maggiano’s, next door. It’s just as corporate, but at least there the food’s decent.

I’m conflicted about Lost so far this season. Episode 4 was a Locke episode and it dragged. The alternate reality stuff seems like a return to the first/second season flashbacks — boring stuff. Just doesn’t have the edge of the simultaneous timelines of last season. And not enough answers. Or new questions.

The third episode of Lost’s final season was a bit of a letdown. Naturally, being a Kate-focused story, it was bound to be. But the stuff in the temple seemed unnecessarily drawn out. Here’s hoping it picks the pace back up.

Cinci’s getting another 3 to 6 inches. Everybody’s panicking. Seriously, anything less than four feet is a flurry.

Last night’s Chuck was good — except for the giant idiot plot device of a sealed museum room that takes an hour to suck the air out of. That’s some great security system there, Lou.

Reconbobulated the pod over the weekend. Really opens up the basement. But probably the biggest thing, my PC speakers are now closer together — way better stereo separation.

Watched the 2009 animated Wonder Woman movie yesterday, the one with Kerri Russel and Nathon Fillion doing the voices. It was good… except way too short. They could have used a couple extra scenes to strengthen the plot. Like, why do the Amazons shows up out of the blue as a calvalry. Or maybe I missed that bit. I was cartooning while I watched.

We’ve been working our way through the first season of Legend of the Seeker. It’s both good and frustrating. The good: Well done, interesting stories… The bad: huge plot holes, and characters that make some really dumb decisions. Not to mention the magic system — magic appears capable of doing anything, without any cost.

A Girl and Her Gunship – Still on the first chapter. Why am I having so much trouble with this thing? Probably because I’ve had the characters in my head for four years and I’m way too anxious about making it “the best thing ever” instead of just a good story.

So, Amy and I took the day off today. Just to have a day before the snow hits. They’re calling for a HUGE storm. Which, in Cincinnati terms is three to five inches. Which in my terms is a FLURRY. We’re hoping to get to the art museum sometime today. Assuming Amy wakes up at some point. Until she does, I’ll be researching iPhone headphones. The ones that come with the 3gs suck — soundwise (which doesn’t so much matter with my tinnitus and everything) but mostly because they don’t fit in my damn ears. I dislike earbuds, but looks like that’s the route I’ll have to go if I want a pair with a built-in mic that isn’t wireless. I like wires, damn it.

Been in a reboot mood lately. Redid the websites (still ongoing, pardon our dust). And I’m thinking about rearranging the basement office. Maybe will do that tomorrow.
